This item is an injection-plastic figure kit.  

Bandai purchased the tooling to the Nausicaa kits that were previously owned by Tsukuda Hobby. These older kits have been reengineered by Bandai to be snap fit items, molded in colour and cleaned up all around. In this kit the Oumu and weaponry are molded in colour (the Oumu's eyes are clear); Nausicaa is molded in light-orange plastic and will require paint. A sheet with three sets of eye decals for Nausicaa is included.
